The Party Re-Started at 11:00pm on Wacky Wednesday...anrolled past midnight...
with our fav Nightcrawler coming out for the evening oral syringe full of powered pills and oral antibiotics...along with....you'll never guess....Reallly you won't believe it...
The Rewind of the:
1962 Champion Baton Twirling Exibition, Calgary Stampede July 1st....
The 1962 Champion Baton Twirling Champ....
Muscle memory still at 95%...not bad after 55 or so years...
The Epic moments of the old days and the Vintage 1962 Standard newspaper story
were validated when we looked up Nadia Anne Stadola ..Lions Merching Band Head Majorette. .
in the 1962 Who' who in North American Baton twirling...
Nadia was the light haired gal on the far left. Mom on the far right...
This party would be incomplete without the 1962 Prize Baton and
1960's Vintage Barbie Midge Doll Red Hair DRUM MAJORETTE Look Alike Sherron Doll
Vintage Barbie Drum Majorette 1960's
Red Coat, White Pleated Skirt with Pantyhose
Drum Majorette Hat, Short White Gloves
White Majorette Boots with Molded Tassels
This is the Sherron Look alike ensemble!
Majorettes don't dress like this anymore!
The huge red fuzzy hat is what its all about...
The white pleated skirt has an attached white panty, which goes over the pantyhose. The "baton" is a little wooden stick with a glitter covered ball on the end. Ken had a coordinating Drum Major ensemble too
Baton was in Rare form..
But thats not...all....Nope we had to crack open a new portable CD player
and a dozen new Country, Soft Rock and Yiddish Folk disks...
Oh and actually go though the CD Player 101 course...with labels...
This resulted in some serious dirty dancing with a few karaoke favs too..
Crooner Call out!.....
And the patch...
Some seriously wicked moves there ! I tried baton twirling in my younger years but sadly only ended up with bruised forearms and the odd bloody nose. My Mom wasnt overly impressed either with the devastation that occurred when I decided to practice indoors next to her beloved blue mountain pottery! So I am very impressed...Well done :)
ReplyDeleteI remember that picture and I remember how involved with Baton Sherron was because when ever we came to visit she was always practicing!
